Course Description

This tutorial will introduce ZBrush, a powerful tool for sculpting, painting and illustration. We will begin by looking at ZBrush's interface. Then we will cover how to get geometry ready for sculpting so that you can start creating. We will discuss Pixols and the 2.5D workflow. Also, we'll cover basic methods of creating and manipulating geometry on the canvas. We'll also discuss how to divide your mesh and use the sculpting brush to add detail. Topics such as masking and polygroups will be covered, along with several innovative methods of building geometry like ZModeler and ZSpheres, DynaMesh, ShadowBox, and DynaMesh. We will start with simple geometry, then move to a more project-based approach, exploring sculpting, painting, FiberMesh lighting, rendering and mapping. ZBrush is a robust application so we will only be able skim the surface. However, you can find detailed tutorials on many topics on this site. ZBrush 4R7 is required.
