Course Description

This course covers five generations of IT/IS. It will provide you with both a historical perspective of technology development and an understanding of the digital opportunities that exist for organizations today. This course will take you back to 1980, when vacuum tubes were used in the first generation computers. It will also cover five generations of innovation. This course will cover the history of integrated circuits and transistors as well as artificial intelligence. The history of computers will be revealed and you'll see how far the IT industry came. You'll be able to examine IT infrastructure, web servers and extranets. Knowing the past will help you assess vulnerabilities both historically and now.

The second week of the course will focus on emerging technologies like cloud security and common cyber threats. They will be discussed as well as web-based and non-web-based threats. You should be able to understand network management and its relationship with cyber threats by the end of this course.
