Course Description

This course will discuss peer-to–peer protocols as well as local area networks. Part 1 of this course addresses the question: How can a peer to peer protocol provide reliable data transfer service over unreliable transmission lines and networks? We will be examining several medium access control protocols as well as their performance. The second part focuses on how medium access control protocols coordinate access to the communication channel to ensure that information reaches a destination within the same broadcast local network. Further, we will discuss wireless LAN and local area network.
