Course Description

This tutorial will show you how to create a unique spaceship using client specifications. From initial thumbnails to the final render, we'll be learning how to make a solar barque. Following our project specifications, we will begin by gathering and analysing reference material. These specs would typically be provided by clients or art directors. Then, we will work on the ship. Starting with thumbnails, we'll use various techniques such as detailed sketching, 3D modeling and overpainting to create interesting textures, until the design is complete. We'll use several programs such as Photoshop, MODO and Alchemy along the way. After the design is completed, we will use it to create a beauty shot - a concept illustration which will be our final presentation. This tutorial will teach you many of the techniques and tricks that were used in the concept design process and allow you to apply them in your own projects. Software required: Photoshop CS5, modo 601, Apophysis 7, Alchemy.
