Course Description

Healthcare professionals will have the opportunity to learn about the benefits and challenges of a syndromic approach in diagnosing clinical infections.

Clinical case studies will be used to help you understand how the syndromic system is applied in real life. You will also learn about medical indications that are compatible with the syndromic approach. Rapid syndromic tests are used to accelerate the diagnosis of infectious diseases. This is a key factor in improving patient outcomes in a hospital setting. Numerous studies have shown that it is both cost-effective as well as clinically beneficial.

You'll be guided by experts from BSAC to learn how you can identify clinical conditions that require rapid syndromic tests and analyze its role in antimicrobial stewardship. Rapid syndromic tests have been proven to be more effective in antimicrobial stewardship than standard methods. Patients who test positive are treated with shorter courses of antibiotics. Syndromic testing is a quick treatment option that can be used to treat a variety of conditions.

You will be able to understand the benefits of syndromic tests in practice and how they can affect existing antimicrobial safety programs by the end of this course.
