Course Description

This is the second course in the Globalization, Economics Growth and Stability Specialization. This course will examine the economic implications of globalization on country's economic decisions and perspectives. This course will examine the factors that have shaped globalization, which has been a major topic in recent political debates. The course will be divided into four modules. The first module will cover exchange rates. It will explain what determines the exchange rate, how different exchange rates impact the economy, and the realities of currencies. The second module will cover trade and the realities of free trade. It will also discuss what happens to an economy when there is protectionism. The balance of payments will be the third module. It will allow you to understand the economic transactions between countries and the rest. The fourth module will be on Immigration. This is perhaps the most controversial topic today. This module will discuss current migration trends and explain how migration affects host country countries.
