Course Description

Join Johannes Fast, animator in his cel FX series for his second installment. This time, Johannes will show you how to create 2D fire effects digitally in Adobe Animate's "cel" animation.

You've always wanted to add that extra "flare", but you don't know how 2D animations work. This class will teach you how to create believable fire effects.

What can you expect to learn:

  • The theory of fire's movement
  • How to light a candle flame
  • How to light a fire
  • How to make a fireball animated

Who's this class for?

This class is for intermediate or beginner animators who have some experience animating traditional animation. This class is great for animators who are just starting out or those who have some experience with animation. It also makes a great introduction to animating. These techniques can be used by film editors and content creators to add cool effects in live action.

This course will teach you how to create 2D fire on a professional level.

Requirements:

For the class, a digital animation program is necessary, preferably Adobe Animate. A digital drawing tablet is also required. Although a mouse is possible, it will make the process much more difficult. An iPad with an animation program works well.

Software and apps that are recommended:

  • Adobe Animate
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Rough animator (iPad).
  • Calipeg (iPad)
  • Flipaclip (Apple/Android)

Instagram Feature :

Every two weeks, I choose a few student projects from my classes to be featured in my instagram. If you don't want to be featured, post your work on the student community and tag it on instagram. You can also share your work via instagram and twitter by tagging @johanimation, so I can see it!
