Duration: 30 minutes

Introduction

What is an Azure Front Door?

Azure Front Door is a global, scalable gateway that leverages the Microsoft global edge network to create secure, fast, and widely scalable web apps.

Front Door allows you to transform enterprise and global consumer applications into modern, robust, personalized modern applications that reach a global audience via Azure.

Front Door operates at Layer 7 (HTTP/HTTPS Layer) using anycast protocol and split TCP. Microsoft's global network improves global connectivity. Front Door can route client requests to the most efficient and available application backend based on your routing method.

Front Door offers a variety of traffic-routing options and backend health monitoring options that can be tailored to different applications and failover scenarios. Front Door, like Traffic Manager, is resilient to failures. This includes failures to entire Azure regions.
