Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTUA) was established in 2008 in Anantapur. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University got divided into three independent universities- Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad; Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada; Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur and that's how JNTUA came into existence. The university is recognised by AICTE. JNTUA has five constituent colleges namely JNTUA College of Engineering, Anantapur; JNTUA College of Engineering; Pulivendula; JNTUA College of Engineering, Kallakuri; JNTUA- Technological and Pharmaceutical Research Institute, Anantapur; JNTUA- Department of MBA, Anantapur. JNTUA has a total of 160 affiliated colleges- out of which, 98 are engineering colleges, 33 pharmacy colleges and 29 stand-alone MBA/MCA colleges. The university has a total faculty size of 135 members and 5,638 students. JNTUA is spread over a campus size of 195 acres. JNTUA provides scholarships and placement support to its students.

The institute is located in Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya Road, Andhra Pradesh. Kempegowda International Airport is located at a distance of 190 kms away from the campus. Students can reach the campus by hiring a cab. The nearest railway station is the Anantapur Railway Station which is 2 kms away from the campus. The nearest bus stand is Anantapur Bus Stand, located at a distance of 5 kms from the campus. Students can easily hire an auto from the bus stand or a railway station to reach the campus.
The institute has a well-equipped auditorium which is used for a variety of guest lectures and speaker sessions. The auditorium is also used to host a variety of cultural activities.
