Business insight and analytics managers are in high-level analyses and managerial positions in larger companies. They are the head of a team of analysts and managers who study market trends and try to determine the most effective course of action for the business.
The manager has to ensure that they are collecting relevant information; usually they designate an entire team to determine the appropriate levels of value and relevance for the collected market and customer information. After this data is prioritized, different teams look at logistics, sales, marketing, and revenue channels to figure out the different ways in which changes or new developments could impact the company. Based on the business, people with experience in business law are paired with or under the direction of a business insight manager to ensure that the manager is aware of legislative developments and regulatory changes that are under consideration. These developments can aid the manager in identifying areas of potential risk and opportunities. The business insights and analytics manager can also collate the data collected into reports to be used by the upper board members and management.
In order to work in this field it is necessary to have at minimum a bachelor's degree in business, and preferably an vast experience in finance and statistics in addition. A majority of larger firms prefer someone who has a proven track record of analytics expertise. They should be a great communicater and have strong organization skills, too.
