District operations managers is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the district for whom they are charged. They act as an advisor to the managers of operations within their district. Additionally, they must conduct regularly (usually weekly) reviews and check-ins on the performance of their employees. The district operations manager develops budget guidelines for their subordinate managers of operations and helps to improve the efficiency of finances that each manager works. The district manager must set up and define short-term and long-term objectives that apply to all units of operation as well as subordinate managers, as regularly evaluate the progress that has been achieved in achieving those goals.

In this job, the working environment is mostly inside an office space however some outdoor work might be necessary. District managers typically have to be able to travel to various operations sites frequently throughout the week and must be able to access reliable transportation. District operations managers is accountable directly to a regional director of operations and acts as an intermediary between the line managers and the Regional Operations Manager. The position is usually an initial shift job however, the district operations manager must be on hand to communicate and respond in case of sensitive emergency situations.

An undergraduate degree or higher in business administration (or an equivalent area) or at minimum five years of operation management experience with solid references is needed. The district's operations manager should be proficient in the entry of data, processing words, and the drafting of budgets.
