The regional human resources manager provides leadership and guidance to all human resources specialists and employees in their region. They lead and organize region-wide initiatives and directives. The regional human resources manager takes direction from a senior member of the corporate human resources department and is responsible for tasking their team with accomplishing any goals and directives as assigned.
The regional human resources manager must attract, select, train, and develop key human resources personnel, including general staff and recruiters. Leadership will need to be provided through all levels of the regions through the position. Individuals in this position will need to plan and organize various leadership and key skill development sessions for applicable employees in the region. The regional human resources manager also ensures that the region’s personnel adhere to all forms of the human resources policy, as well as educates new employees on said policies. The regional human resources manager also must review and report on regional activities and general human resources updates to senior management.
The regional human resources manager must have a bachelor's degree in a related program, although a master’s degree typically is preferred. A potential candidate should have eight to 10 years in human resources, with an emphasis on leading others and oversight of multiple areas. The regional human resources manager must have excellent communication skills and have a general understanding of the full scope of business, not just human resources.
