A marketing associate develops marketing strategies and reviews the existing ideas that are generated by the company's marketing department. They collect ideas put forward by the department's marketing team and determine which ideas can be implemented and the best way they can be implemented. This involves planning costs, determining the steps required to implement campaigns, and then implementing any modifications that have been that are approved from their managers. The associate marketing manager has to adhere to the department's budget for all their activities.

The associate manager is also able to evaluate the effectiveness of current marketing campaigns and identify ways to improve the effectiveness of their campaigns. The manager could be asked to recommend the end of current campaigns. Although not specifically a marketing analyst an associate manager could collaborate with market research department's data to determine the direction of current projects. In all their activities the associate manager creates report and updates on status for the marketing department's managers and supervisors. The associate marketing manager can also be a supervisor particularly when their marketing director is not in the office or is not available.

An undergraduate degree in either marketing or another related field is usually required for this job, and previous experience in marketing jobs at a lower level. The associate manager usually is in a office during business hours. He is overseen by a marketing department manager or head of the department.
