Executive editors are typically accountable for the writing of articles and aiding employees in the publishing of their articles. In addition to assisting other editors executive editors usually assist with editing punctuation and style, grammar and spelling, in addition to making sure that there is no plagiarism. They usually look for plagiarism with software programs on computers and analyze and assess the originality of articles.
Executive editors are often the company's strategists and should have a thorough understanding of the company's goals and vision to ensure that all employees adhere to their commitments on a regular basis. They could also be responsible for different employees in the company which includes hiring, managing supervising, terminating and hiring. They also have to ensure that employees are working well together throughout the day. An undergraduate degree from English or journalism, or another similar field is usually required for this job, and previous experience in editing or writing may be required by certain employers.
