Media managers are responsible for overseeing the interactions with media and the press in general and improving the efficiency of publicity and press tasks. They are responsible for protecting the image of their business and ensure that they present it in a coordinated and consistent way, including collecting and disseminating information to journalists and employees.

Media managers collaborate with other key departments within their organizations to develop strategies for social media and manage day-to-day social media-related activities, as well as create and grow the company's social media communities and outreach initiatives. Media managers also collaborate with executive management and staff on breaking news or crises management issues, as required. They also collaborate together with their teams in the design and development of social ads and promotions campaigns.

Media managers need to have strong communication skills to ensure that the brand's image is promoted and to facilitate the growth of connections with regional and national media contacts. The people in this role are also responsible for coordinating and overseeing press-related events, create press kits, as well as create and research press materials.
