Travel consultants assess the client’s needs and expectations for a travel experience, and then provide them with the best travel options. They work to build an ongoing relationship with the customer to open the door for future bookings through the company.Travel consultants must be high energy and able to work in a fast-paced environment, as they often work with clients that have a wide variety of needs related to planning travel. Clients' travel needs may be for work, vacation, or family. Regardless of reason for travel, the consultant's goal is to ensure that every detail is taken care of and that no problems arise during travel. Travel consultants normally work in an office setting during regular business hours; however, some clients may require different hours because of time zones and their schedules. Many companies require experience in sales or service. Customer service skills are very important in this job, as travel consultants work with clients on a daily basis and must effectively solve issues that may arise in the course of travel planning.
