An engineer for aircraft is responsible for ensuring that the aircrafts in the air service fleet providers are maintained properly and repaired. They are also safe to fly. The engineer conducts a range of inspections every day on various aircrafts, records the results of any tests or anomalies conducted on the aircrafts and oversees any repairs or re-inspections that are required.

A lot of the tests that aircraft engineers carry out on planes are routine in nature. They typically include inspection and/or testing of the mechanical and flight systems when the aircraft is in the air. Engineers typically record the results of each test and the test logs are kept to be inspected by any authority who may request for them at a later time. Apart from these standard tests, some aircrafts have special inspections that are required to be conducted regularly.
