The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) was established in 1961 by the Government of India in collaboration with the Government of West Bengal, Alfred P. Sloan School of Management (MIT), Indian industry and The Ford Foundation. IIM Calcutta was established as the first national institute for the study of research and postgraduate studies in the genre of Management. The institute has been ranked 3rd in the NIRF Rankings of 2021 in the management category.
