Computer-aided design (CAD) drafters utilize computers to create plans for construction of buildings or the creation of products, filling designs with specifications and codes to design. Drafters using CAD work directly with the business that needs the design. Drafters should be able to follow instructions and utilize the system to create a top-quality design. Computer-aided design drafters should be precise, possess excellent communication skills and be able to manage pressure, be imaginative and organized. They must also be capable of meeting deadlines. Additionally, CAD drafters need to demonstrate that they are trustworthy with the company's information designs, plans, and designs.
The education required to become computer-aided design drafter must include at least a bachelor's degree or some type of vocational education. Certain CAD drafters pursue higher levels in their particular field (product-based and construction-based CAD).
