Description

A design verification engineer works to debug and verify designs and potential products as needed by their company. They attempt to identify and solve as many problems as possible with a product before its public launch; this includes using products in other ways than intended use to identify safety concerns, design flaws, and problem areas. A design verification engineer must be able to work on a wide range of projects in a variety of areas.Design verification engineers generally need at least a bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field. A background in programming and an array of relevant certifications (which vary by company and scope of the engineer's responsibilities) are also generally required. Additionally, these engineers must be adaptable and able to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment. Curiosity and the ability to troubleshoot products on a time-limited basis are also important. They must also posses the ability to think outside the box to identify potential problems while still being able to follow a standard procedure for testing. The individual must be able to work with a team under strict deadlines and have excellent communication skills. A strong technical writing background is preferred as well.
