Description

HVAC Mechanical engineers participate in nearly every aspect of a project. They start with consultations with customers and preexisting condition evaluations and then assist sales teams in selecting the most appropriate solutions for customers. Then, they collaborate with design teams to develop a custom-designed idea and stay in contact with the installation team for maintenance and troubleshooting throughout the life of the equipment. A HVAC mechanical engineer usually is available during normal working hours, but they may require emergency availability. Sometimes, they need to travel. Although the majority of their work is performed in the office, HVAC mechanical engineering often requires work on the field and being present on site to conduct inspections.

A bachelor's of science diploma in mechanical engineering, or an equivalent field is the minimum prerequisite for this job. Experience with commercial HVAC and plumbing systems, and fire protection are often recommended or required and so is proficiency in computers-aided design (CAD) software. Experience with relevant certifications and knowledge of codes and standards for building are also often required. Communication skills are crucial since they often work with other engineers and colleagues on the design and development of systems. Skills for delegation are required to ensure efficiency within the group setting.
