A clinical nurse manager is a higher-level, managerial position in a hospital. You are no longer performing numerous shifts taking care of patients, but you are involved more in the coordination of nurses and in hospital management. You are responsible for creating schedules for the nurses working underneath you, in addition to fielding complaints and questions from any of them. You will also be involved working with other clinical managers, in order to put new policies in place that improve patient care.

In order to be considered for this job, you should have a bachelor's degree in nursing. Being an advanced practice nurse (APN) or nurse practitioner (NP) are not usually necessary, but they are usually preferred. Experience working as a nurse in any setting is a must. You must be a person that shows a strong attention to detail, and you must have management experience.

You will usually be required to be in the hospital during business hours, but you may be required to work overnights or weekends. You are also expected to deal with problems with the nurses underneath you whenever they arise.
