Production Control managers are employed by businesses across a variety of industries, but they are mostly employed by supply chain services and manufacturers. Employers prefer candidates with at least a bachelor's degree in supply chain or logistics management, and have at minimum three years of relevant work experience as well as prior managerial or supervisory experience is extremely beneficial.
Managers should be skilled with Microsoft Excel and other management software, based on the preferences of their organization. The job is performed in a workplace, however managers are expected to conduct quality assurance tests periodically and may require some walking.
The primary responsibility of a producer control manager will be to make sure that the firm's goods or services are maintained at a constant level of production, and that all levels of inventory are properly managed. They could be involved in the purchase of inventory, and managing schedules and they need to be able to effectively manage their time. They also supervise the other supervisory staff and provide them with the goals that must be achieved and areas in need of improvement.
Production control managers work with other departments of the company such as customer service or sales, in order to provide an entire, top-quality product to the customer. It is crucial that they have excellent communication skills since they interact with a lot of their colleagues every day.
