Learn Path Description

The learner will develop foundational skills in IBM Z hardware and software, especially around z/OS and System Administration. Through hands-on labs working on a live IBM Z server, the will gain real world experience and will be equipped to pursue a career as a mainframe application developer, system programmer, system administrator, or a DBA Practitioner. This learning path is intended to provide the foundational skills required to launch a career in the enterprise platform that powers over 68% of worldwide transactions. Companies around the world are searching for these skills to run their critical system workloads. In this series of courses, the learner will be introduced to various operating systems, mainframe applications, and get real-time hands-on experience on an IBM Z server. There are three courses in this learning path, please be sure to complete all three in order to maximize your time and effort. The introduction to z/OS Commands and Panels can be done in an IBM Mainframe z/OS Environment. Seven labs provide live access for an IBM Z server. These labs will teach you how to navigate and use z/OS environments. This includes TSO/E commands and ISPF/PDF dialogs. Systems Programming on IBM Z

This third course in the three-course professional certificate track provides the foundational knowledge necessary to become an IBM z/OS System Administrator and System Programmer. This course provides practical labs for everyday z/OS tasks using JCL, JES and ISHELL, as well as z/OSMF. The topics covered include VSAM and z/OS System Libraries. The video course also includes quizzes and readings. Lab exercises are included. This course will take you between 17-18 hours.
